My name is Herbie and for whatever reason I decided to use the name HTSHELL for when I play records. I live in Philadelphia and play in the groups Brown Recluse Sings and Auto Scroll. I also am part of a monthly night called ENGLAND BELONGS TO TWEE where we get too excited by mixing Cock Sparrer into Heavenly and Tiger Trap into Sham 69.
But for this I just grabbed a bunch of 45s and pressed record and this is what came out. There's mostly soul, a little pop, and an enigmatic song for what would be the closing credits. All these records came from trips to flea markets in the eastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware, and central NJ regions from January-October 2008. The recording itself is somewhat scratchy, but I think vinyl hiss and crackle sounds infinitely more pleasing than MP3 compression.
I'm trying to take things one step at a time this year, which is hard for me because I tend to start something and never finish it. Hopefully this long overdue podcast is the first in a trend of bringing more ideas and projects to fruition. Thanks for listening and big thanks to the whole Slumberland fam!
